WP LeadChat Pro Documentation

Install, configure and get the most out of your lead capture chat widget.

Requirements

WP LeadChat Pro needs WordPress 6.0+ (tested up to 7.0) and PHP 7.4+. The plugin is licensed under GPLv2 or later.

Installation

  1. Purchase the plugin. Freemius emails you your license key and a download link. Download the ZIP file. The free version is also available on WordPress.org.
  2. In your WordPress dashboard go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
  3. Choose the ZIP file, click Install Now, then Activate.
  4. Enter your license key when the plugin asks for it to unlock the Pro features.
  5. The chat widget appears on your site straight away.

Upgrading from Lead Capture Chat

Deactivate and delete Lead Capture Chat first, then install WP LeadChat Pro. Your existing leads carry over. Never run both plugins at the same time.

Embedding the form

Besides the floating widget, you can place the form inline on any page, post or widget area with the shortcode:

[wlcp]

Appearance

  • Pick the widget color with the color picker.
  • Place the widget on the left or the right.
  • Set the width from 280 to 600 px.
  • Upload a custom avatar or profile image.
  • Edit the titles and messages shown to visitors.

A live admin preview updates as you change these settings, so you can check the result before visiting the front end.

Managing leads

Every submission is saved to your own WordPress database. The leads dashboard lets you:

  • Search, sort and filter leads.
  • Open a lead in the detail modal.
  • Delete several leads at once with bulk delete.

Repeated submissions from the same visitor are merged. The free plan uses a fixed 24-hour window; in Pro you can configure the duplicate window.

Lead score

Each lead gets a rules-based score from 0 to 100 and a tier: Hot, Warm or Cold. You can filter and sort the leads dashboard by score to follow up on the best leads first.

CRM dashboard (Pro)

Move each lead through a five-stage pipeline: New, Contacted, Qualified, Converted, Lost.

  • Change a status inline; the badge updates without reloading the page.
  • Use the KPI cards and status filter tabs to see where leads are.
  • Add quick notes and review the notes activity log.
  • Change the status of many leads at once and filter by date range.
  • See the last activity for each lead.
  • Export the result with the enhanced CSV export.

Analytics (Pro)

Track results with a leads-over-time chart (7, 30, 90, 365 days or all time), a conversion rate trend, a pipeline funnel, your top source pages and a KPI summary strip.

Custom field builder (Pro)

Add your own fields to the form: Text, Email, Phone, Textarea, Dropdown and Checkbox. Drag and drop to change their order. Name, Email, Phone and Message are always available as core fields.

Notifications (Pro)

Get an admin email alert for every new lead and optionally send an auto-reply to the lead. Set your own sender identity. You can also send SMS or WhatsApp messages through Twilio.

Use these template tags in your email and message templates:

TagReplaced with
{name}The lead's name
{email}The lead's email address
{phone}The lead's phone number
{message}The lead's message
{all_fields}Every submitted field
{custom_fields}Your custom fields
{date}Submission date
{site}Your site name
{url}The page the lead came from

Spam protection (Pro)

  • Honeypot: a hidden field that catches bots without bothering visitors.
  • Google reCAPTCHA v3: add your own reCAPTCHA keys to score each submission invisibly. Visitors do not solve a puzzle.
  • Duplicate window: choose how long repeat submissions are merged.

Performance and privacy

The plugin serves its DM Sans font locally (no Google Fonts request), is built with ARIA accessibility in mind and is GDPR-friendly. Leads stay on your server. Services you switch on yourself, such as reCAPTCHA or Twilio, contact those providers only when enabled.

Troubleshooting

  • Widget not showing or looks outdated: clear your caching plugin and CDN cache, then hard-refresh the page.
  • Strange behavior after an upgrade: make sure Lead Capture Chat is deactivated and deleted. Only one of the two plugins may be active.
  • Notification emails not arriving: check your spam folder and confirm your site can send email, for example with an SMTP plugin.
  • Form not appearing inline: check that the shortcode is exactly [wlcp].
